Madeira Beach Real Estate Infromation

The Pinellas County city of Madeira Beach lies on a barrier island that separates the Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway. Hosting just over 4,000 residents, the majority of Madeira Beach’s people live either directly on the waterfront or within a few walking minutes from the beach. With little or no industrial activity or commercial operations in the area, Madeira Beach is primarily a residential area. Accordingly, residents rely on neighboring communities to support their commercial needs. Seminole Mall, located north of Madeira Beach, is the area’s primary retail and shopping plaza to serve the immediate needs of local residents. Most residents will drive east into St. Petersburg’s downtown shopping district if time allows.

John’s Pass Village and Boardwalk is one of Madeira Beach residents’ favorite attractions. Home to the local fishing fleet, several cruise boats, rental boats, and parasailing adventures are based at the small marina. A unique shopping area and variety of different restaurants along the water make the village a scenic place to dine. While contemporary, the architecture and setting are quite reminiscent of Madeira Beach’s fishing town past. The marina portion of Madeira Beach is a sight to behold during dawn and dusk when the sails of the various boats are cheerfully illuminated by the glowing orange and red hues of the sun.

The Bay Pines Healthcare System Hospital is situated just across the intercoastal waterway from Madeira Beach and can be easily reached via 150th Avenue that crosses the water. The hospital provides emergency and other non-emergency services. The county’s youth are well served by the Pinellas County Schools system. Serving about 148,000 students are 13,000 employees spread evenly throughout the system. All pupils are assigned to the most appropriate campus closest to the home. In all, there are twenty-three high schools, twenty-three middle schools, and over a hundred elementary schools. Although the only campus located in Madeira Beach is Madeira Beach Elementary School, students in grade six and above can easily reach middle and high school campuses across the water in Seminole.
