The Pinellas County city of Indian Rocks Beach lies on a barrier island that separates the Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway. Hosting just over 5,000 residents, Indian Rocks Beach is actually located north of Indian Shores and south of Belleair Shore. Incorporated relatively recently in 1956, the city’s major industry is tourism, which typically thrives throughout the year. The eastern side of Indian Rocks Beach features canals and frontage on the Intracoastal Waterway.

Indian Rocks Beach attracts many tourist due to its wide sandy beaches and convenient proximity to many Floridian attractions including Busch Gardens, Walt Disney World, Universal Studio, and Sea World. Besides being close to some of Florida’s best places to go, Indian Rocks Beach also hosts a number of local events that are held annually and show the best of what the local community has to offer. Oktoberfest is a big event in town and includes beer tastings, food competitions, and live entertainment. Similarly, Taste of Indian Rocks Beach invites local vendors and restaurants to display their most famous creations for purchase by the public along the boardwalk. During Halloween, a massive Pumpkin Carving Contest is open to all residents as is a large town Haunted House. The Beauty and the Beach Festival is also a crowd pleaser as is the Fall Arts Festival that displays local artists’ work to the world.

Indian Rocks Beach is home to miles of pristine beach, numerous parks and a great many recreational facilities such as tennis courts, basketball courts, a ball field, leash-free pet park, and the City's most recent addition, a state of the art skateboard park. Some of the public parks include 12th Avenue Park, Brown Park, Chief Chic-A-Si Park, Keegan Clair Park, and Kolb Park. The Beach Art Center in the heart of Indian Rocks Beach provides visitors and residents with exhibitions, classes, and workshops for a small fee. Drawing upon the beauty of the surrounding landscape, many residents sign-up for memberships at the center.
