Dunedin Real Estate Information

The town of Dunedin is situated in Pinellas County, Florida and is named after the Scottish town of Edinburgh. Known for its several sandy beaches, Dunedin’s most famous shores include Dunedin Causeway, Honeymoon Island, and the Caladesi Island State Park. The latter is consistently ranked as one of the best beaches in the world and attracts visitors from all corners of the globe as well as the local community in masses.

Interestingly, Dunedin is one of just a few waterfront communities between Sarasota and Cedar Key where there are no oceanfront buildings or properties. This allows for open views, especially along the one-mile long Edgewater View, providing unobstructed vistas of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. On clear days, residents can see St. Joseph Sound, Clearwater Beach, and Caladesi Island are all spectacular sights.

While Dunedin is primarily focused on tourism and comfortable residential living, there is also a small but thriving downtown business district. While absent of commercial signage, corporate franchise restaurants, and other big-name retail stores, the area is still the perfect place for residents to run errands and go about their daily routines.

The thirty-nine-mile long Pinellas Trail is a bicycle and pedestrian path that traverses the entire Pinellas County and runs through the heart of downtown Dunedin. For this reason, it’s not uncommon to see dozens of bikes parked along the road or sprinting through the middle of town. Dunedin is also one of the smallest communities to be used as a spring training facility for a Major League Baseball team. Since 1977, the Toronto Blue Jays have come to town to make use of the local facilities. Knology Park is the primary athletic complex and hosts a number of community league baseball games when the Blue Jays are training in town.

The Dunedin Community Center, a $10 million athletic complex, was recently built to provide age-appropriate exercise areas to keep Dunedin’s residents in shape. Other recreational facilities in town include the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Center, the Hale Activity Center, Dunedin nature Center, and the Highlander Pool Complex. Additionally, the 18-hole Dunedin Country Club is also situated in town and features 6,605 yards of pure golfing bliss.
