Clearwater Real Estate Information

The county seat of Pinellas County is Clearwater, due west of Tampa and northwest of St. Petersburg. As the second largest city in the county after St. Petersburg, Clearwater hosts over 110,000 people. Despite this, it is the smallest of the three principal cities in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area. The city is served by the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority bus service that is the area’s only form of public transportation. Thirty-five local routes join two express routes and a beach trolley that runs north and south along Pinellas County’s barrier islands. The relatively low fares encourage residents to park their cars and use mass transportation, thus alleviating city traffic and cleaning the environment for the better.

The innovative Clearwater Public Art and Design Program is funded by the city to enhance Clearwater for those who visit and live within the city in order to beautify the current location and contribute to a legacy for generations to come. The program commissions a variety of different unique public artworks to enhance the city’s diversity, character, and heritage. Clearwater also serves as the home of Major League Baseball’s Philadelphia Phillies spring training facility. The Bright House Field serves as the organization’s training area and opens up its stadium for games during the off-season. When the team isn’t in town, the ballpark is used by local baseball teams.

Several local annual events are designed to celebrate key milestones in the year as well as to bring together the community to engage in family-friendly fun and celebration. Several sunset events held on Clearwater Beach are some of the residents’ favorite events because of the spectacular and awe-inspiring colors and hues that fill the skies over Clearwater. The international film festival is also a big draw as it brings in thousands of visitors. The Fun n Sun Festival and Clearwater Jazz Holiday are also popular for both residents and visitors alike. Since 2006, the Foster Grant Ironman World Championship is held in Clearwater. Besides bringing many guests to the city, the event also displays the beauty of Clearwater to the rest of the nation via the exceptional television coverage.

One of the biggest community events is the Clearwater Celebrates America event that is held on July 4th and includes a fireworks display, parade, food booths, live entertainment, and a number of other party venues. Clearwater is also very much focused on education. In fact, there are four colleges located in Clearwater itself, namely Clearwater Christian College, St. Petersburg College, Everest University, and Pinellas Technical Education Center.
