Sun City Center Real Estate Information

Also referred to as Greater Sun Center, the 16,000-person town of Sun City Center is located south of Tampa and north of Sarasota along the very busy I-75 corridor. A completely residential area, very little commercial activity takes place in the area. However, most residents who need to work can find work in nearby Ruskin or several other communities on the western-facing shore of the region. A large portion of Sun City Center residents are at retirement age or do not need to work, adding to the resort community feeling of the area. Residents find that the quiet streets, well-maintained streets and properties, exceptional city services, and family-friendly environment make for an enjoyable living experience.

The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit System operates two bus lines that serve the people of Sun City Center. Line 87 runs from Ruskin to Wimauma while Line 35LX runs from Kings Point all the way into Downtown Tampa. This latter option is quite popular with residents who dislike driving and allows residents without cars to make an easy trip into the big city.

Comprised primarily of single-family dwellings, Sun City Center also has a number of duplexes, townhouses, and apartment buildings. Having its own community hospital is very comforting, especially for many of Sun City Center’s more elderly residents who find peace of mind knowing health care and immediate attention are just a moment away. Little Manatee State Park is located on the southern boundary of Sun City Center and is a 2,433-acre facility located along the Little Manatee River. The beautiful area is popular with a number of outdoor adventure seekers who take part in kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and horseback riding, as well as camping, walking, hiking, and wildlife viewing.

There are several golf courses and about twenty golf hobby shops scattered throughout the Sun City Center area. Unlike many other communities, the small-town feel of Sun City Center allows residents to legally drive golf carts on the palm-lined streets during the day. Ironically, many shopping centers in Sun City Center have dedicated parking smalls for golf carts. Golf Club at Cypress Creek, North Golf Course, Caloosa Golf and Country Club, Kinds Inn Golf Course, Wedgewood III Course, and Cypress Greens Golf Course are some of the more popular courses.
