Over 160,000 residents call Florida’s Hernando County home. With the majority of residents concentrated in Spring Hill located in the western portion of the county, Hernando County also includes several other towns and communities that make central Floridian living so much fun and enjoyable. Brooksville and Weeki Wachee are the only other incorporated towns in Hernando County, although there are several other established communities, including Aripeka, Bayport, Brookridge, Garden Grove Estates, Hernando Beach, High Point, Hill 'n Dale, Istachatta, Lake Lindsey, Masaryktown, Nobleton, North Brooksville, North Weeki Wachee, Pine Island, Ridge Manor, Ridge Manor West, South Brooksville, Spring Lake, and Weeki Wachee Gardens. Together with Pasco, Hillsborough, and Pinellas counties, Hernando County rounds out the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area.

While Hernando County is certainly dedicated to a prosperous and thriving residential community, the area also hosts a blossoming and strong economy primarily centered around a Wal-Mart distribution center located in Ridge Manor. As the largest truck-to-truck facility in the nation, the center is about 1.6 million square feet in size. A large industrial park is also located near the Hernando County Airport, housing over a hundred aviation, manufacturing, and distribution companies that have significant operations and offices in Hernando County. The local limestone mining industry is still alive and well thanks to Cemex.

A number of interesting points of interest can be found throughout Hernando County, including Pine Island, Withlacoochee State Forest, Croom Motorcycle Park, Weeki Wachee Springs, Bayport Park, Delta Woods Park, Veterans Memorial Park, Tom Varn Park, and Rogers' Christmas House and Village. A number of golf courses attract the clubs of thousands of residents every day. Some of the more notable courses include Timber Pines Country Club, Oak Hills Golf Course, Spring Hill Golf Course, Silverthorn Country Club, Hernando Oaks Golf and Country Club, Rivard Golf and Country Club, Glen Lakes Golf and Country Club, Brookridge Country Club, and Southern Hills Plantation.

The Hernando County Airport serves both civilian and military purposes and is six miles southwest of the heart of Brooksville. While the airport does not receive regular commercial service, a limited amount of charter services are operated into the airport. The majority of traffic is military and general aviation. Since 2000, the Florida National Guard’s Army Aviation Support Team and 171st Aviation Battalion have been based at the airfield as well.
